Hi! New member here and first post. Thanks admins! So I'm repairing a cracked and chipped poly finish on the back of a poly finish guitar. The finish crack is about 3/4" and I plan to superglue that since I can lift the crack w/ my fingernails and use a small pipette to wick the glue down. The crack then ends into a chipped finish where the wood shows. Unfortunately I lost the small chip that came off and I have to do some drop fill according to most info I've read. Here are my questions and any expert advice is gladly appreciated. 1. In my location, we only have all-purpose super glues and buying online has very expensive shipping fee. I'd end up paying more on shipping for a small bottle Will all-purpose superglue work? I already tried on some spare wood and it did a good job bonding them. I just want to know if it works on gluing cracked finish and the long term results like, would it fade in time or would it come off or crack again. 2. For the chipped part, was planning on doing a drop fill but the color of the wood will probably show. Saw some videos from stewmac where they use color stain. Is there any alternative to a brown colortone stain? It's a small chip about 1/4" size. Thanks! |

Any CA glue will work, some a little better than others.... I prefer Bob smith but have used many others. Cannot comment about color fills without seeing what the finish is and how much is missing. |

Brian, thanks for the reply. Here's a picture of the damage. It's just between the control plate and jack. The crack is that line going down from the plate to the jack and ends with the little chip. It's tiny but the wood is exposed. Sorry for the terrible pic quality. I'm at the office now and that's the only picture I have of the damage. |

Get one of these in the closest color they make and apply it prior to anything else. After it dries put on the CA and then level and buff. https://www.walmart.com/ip/Minwax-Wood-Finish-Stain-Marker-1-3-oz-Dark-Walnut/17300109?athcpid=17300109&athpgid=athenaItemPage&athcgid=null&athznid=PWVUB&athieid=v0&athstid=CS020&athguid=b4bb33a2-921-16885196906037&athena=true |

oh! yeah you're right! I'll get one of those. And I think I see a 3/6 pack being sold somewhere. Thanks Brian! |
